ANN CLARK - ACRYLIC

Since an early age, art in it’s many forms, has been part of my life. After a Southern California childhood, I moved with my family to Maine.  Since then, I’ve lived primarily in the Portland area. I was an art student at Syracuse University and earned a fine arts degree at USM in Portland.  In the last few years I have painted at MECA and Design as a CED student. I have exhibited paintings with the Painted Ladies of Maine in several shows.

When we moved to Western Maine a few years ago, I’ve become enamored with the lakes, hills and forests of the area. The ever changing light reflected on the lake is constantly intriguing. As my paintings reflect, the haunting, dark pine and hemlock forests with splashes of brilliant color in the fall have particularly captured my interest. An old road near my house is particularly beautifulI in the fall because of the brilliant yellow and gold glow of the beech leaves. I love to use unexpected color in staggering beauty of sunsets over the lake in front of my house  While snorkeling in the lake outside my door and immersing myself into the underwater environment, I was intrigued by plant shapes and colors and know I’ll try more of this soon. I’m currently working on an underwater series.

I’m primarily an acrylic artist but am looking to explore other mediums soon. I have been painting with the Painted Ladies for the last several years.
