SUE ROWAN - MIXED MEDIA

Susan Rowan is a collage artist who’s had a long and varied interest in the arts as well as crafts. While living and working in South Portland she took continuing education classes at MECA and twice attended Haystack School of Crafts in Deer Isle. Since retiring and relocating to Bridgton, Sue has been printing papers using Styrofoam trays that can be carved in any manner of design, and more recently with ghelli plates for interesting mono prints.

At some point, with an abundance of papers, as well as a collection of found materials, Sue started to collage and found the medium very spontaneous and enjoyable.  She learned on-line from both Lydia Rink and Catherine Rains, who taught printing techniques, assemblage strategies, balance and color. Sue continues to explore her own vision and voice with collage and is happy to be part of Gallery 302.
