Exploring the Depths!
Acrylic painting, mixed media, and collage.

Date: Thursday, July 9th, 1pm - 4pm
Description: We’ll start with a quick lesson on collage techniques, observing how artists use collage in their work. Then, students will create an underwater background using acrylic paints, while experimenting with color mixing and a variety of brush strokes. Decorative papers, cardboard, recycled items, paints and art supplies will be available for cutting, gluing, and drawing to add to the background scene as they wish. A larger sea creature of their choice will be constructed to complete their collage as the main subject. I will have some visuals of these as examples.
Skill Level: Children ages 6 to 12
Materials: Supplied by teacher
Class size: Maximum is 10 students.
Price: $45 per student
All materials for the class will be provided by the instructor. Students may bring a snack, and the gallery will provide bottled water. Wear old clothes or bring an art apron or smock.
Cartoon Portrait of Your Pet

Description:
After explaining the basic elements & principles of design (including line & color),
and having fun playing with facial expressions (eyes, nose, mouth etc) the kids will create a comical portrait of their pet using colorful markers. MUST BRING at least one clear photo of pet, including head & neck. Dog, cat, fish, bird, farm animal, whoever…
All supplies provided in class.
Skill Level: Children ages 7yrs to 11yrs.

Elements, Principles, and Composition

Description:
In depth discussion of the elements & principles of design, and composition…the all important building blocks of art. In class exercises illustrating these components.
For beginners and those who wish to brush up on the basics. All supplies provided in class.
