The Nature of Georgia O'Keeffe

Children will learn a little about Georgia O'Keeffe, an important pioneer in modern art and women as artists. They will learn about drawing a natural object while looking at it (I'll have flowers, skulls, leaves, shells, etc. for them to choose from). They will draw the main subject BIG, and using warm and cool color families, paint the subject in one family and the background in the other family. They will learn about drawing an object using lines, shapes, and texture; warm and cool color families; contrast and emphasis in their artwork; and tempera painting techniques.
