1) What inspires your work right now?

Right now my greatest inspiration is that my studio is in our walkout basement, which is nice and cool! My jewelry work is also my play.  It is a constant challenge of technical skills, miniature engineering, and artistry.  Sometimes some pieces of scrap metal might fall onto the workbench in such a position that it sparks a whole new shape or design.  The shape or image in a stone might suggest design variations.

2) ​What is your favorite piece?

​​Which is your favorite child?  My favorite pieces to make are statement pendants with stones.  I may start with a rough sketch on the back of an envelope, but those pieces have a way of changing direction as they are constructed.  I've learned to follow their lead.

3) What artists influence you?

Although it is not intentional on my part, some people have compared my design sensibility to that of Tiffany or the Danish jewelry designer George Jensen, with a softness, gracefulness and flowing lines.  That's a huge compliment!

4) What do you hope viewers feel or take away from your work?

I hope that when people are wearing a piece of my work, it enhances their sense of personal style and well being.  And I hope they feel a sense of satisfaction from supporting a maker.

5) What is one thing people might be surprised to learn about you?

My training is in drawing and printmaking.  However, my avocaion is in the realm of fiber arts. In contrast to stiff metal which needs to be cut with a saw and assembled by soldering with a torch, fiber work is soft, colorful and more simple to assemble.  I do some quilting, but my favorite activities are spinning wool on my spinning wheel, knitting and weaving.  I do wish I had more time to make some nice fine drawings, but apparently my natural inclination is to create something with my hands in 3 dimensions.
