DEBORAH MANN - OIL PAINTINGS
Debbie became a serious oil painter after a career as a Maine trial lawyer. Her work is in oil on canvas or cradled birch board, depicting nature-based subjects, located almost exclusively in Maine.
A lifetime of hiking, skiing, boating, fishing, skating and photographing the Maine outdoors were the basis for her primarily self-taught crash course in painting landscapes. The pandemic was the impetus, being the perfect time to assess one’s life direction and take some risks. Living in Western Maine, next to the White Mountain National Forest has been an inspiration. The light, the weather, the changing seasons - every day reveals some new beauty that deserves to be memorialized - if only capturing nature’s beauty were possible.
She and her husband, Geoff Cummings, spend most of their time on Horseshoe Pond in Stoneham. They have two adult children, a son-in-law and a granddog, all of whom live in Maine and are outdoor enthusiasts. In addition to being a member of the Bridgton Art Guild, she is also the Secretary and a Board member of the Kezar Lake Watershed Association, whose mission is to preserve and protect many of the spaces depicted in her work.
