CAROLYN RHOADS - OIL, ACRYLIC, LINOCUT & PASTEL

"Carolyn grew up on the Oregon coast, where she played on the beach and in the woods as a child. She comes from a family of art lovers and at age 18, decided to study at the Museum Art School in Portland, Oregon, where she studied painting, printmaking and sculpture. A few years later she earned a Master of Fine Arts degree from Rhode Island School of Design. She taught printmaking and drawing at the Rhode Island School of Design and Providence College and later moved to Maine to live on an organic farm and raise a family. Carolyn works in oil, acrylic and pastel and is also an accomplished printmaker.  Her work reflects an interest in landscapes, people and abstract art.  Carolyn's work has been represented by galleries in Maine, New Hampshire, Oregon, Atlanta, Birmingham and Newport and has been in exhibits at the Museum of Art in Portland, Oregon, the Rhode Island School of Design Museum and the Maine Center for Contemporary Art. She has taught classes for arts associations in Maine and New Hampshire. Carolyn now works from her home studio and shows her work at Gallery 302."
